Hi!
and I've always been fascinated by how we find our footing in a world that feels like it's constantly shifting. Maybe you've felt it too, that deep-seated need for an identity that is both secure and truly your own, even when it feels like everything is telling you that identity is just something we perform or acquire. My academic journey has been a way of making sense of this feeling. I spend a lot of my time researching and writing about how Christian theology, particularly the doctrine of the Imago Dei (the image of God), can provide a stable and transcendent framework for personal identity in our postmodern culture.
In my current work, I am developing what I call the "Mirror Model" of identity, which builds on the traditional substantive, relational, and functional views of the imago Dei. I'm especially interested in how this framework gives rise to a form of practical and systematic theology that empowers the church to engage in neurodiverse liberation theology, seeing the full humanity and divine purpose of those who are so often marginalised.
Join me as I continue to explore how this framework can help us understand ourselves, our communities, and our place in God's story.
I'm Essie
